I am a Hiker

I am a Hiker. I am forever on the move and exploring new ground. I need an application that can keep up with me while I evaluate, research, plan, collaborate, and organize my trips and training.

Planning a hike should always begin with evaluating your own abilities, comparing them to your hiking plans and adjusting the plans accordingly. Nature has a mind of its own, so why not map it? I take into account the weather conditions, terrain conditions and altitudes all from within Spinscape.

When I research, mapping out my new adventures creates a visual outline of what I can expect and what equipment I need to bring. I can attach trail maps directly into nodes to decide the best route to take. I can view the terrain to check if the trail is suitable for my hiking level, and track how I need to prepare for the trip.

The general rule to follow is, “If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail”. With Spinscape, I can quickly and easily plan trips. Using the search and auto-discovery features, I can find hiking trails virtually anywhere in the world and add notes, widgets, links and attachments and discussions all pertaining to my trip. For the new hikers joining us, I attach widgets from YouTube to give them brief survival training before departing into the wilderness. The ability to have open discussions on each node ensures that my team is on the same page, while also answering any questions and building confidence in the group.

I enjoy hiking in groups and having a sense of security that a hiking party provides. Each member shares part in the responsibilities. Whether it is the initial planning, first aid, cooking the food, preparing camp, or navigation, Spinscape allows my team to collaborate in real-time on the same map, so we can ensure that all aspects are covered before departing on our adventure. I can share my map in full, or just specific pieces and assign tasks to my team. I monitor the tasks, and when everything is completed I know it’s time to hit the trails. This makes it easy and convenient to split up the responsibility when planning a multi-day expedition.

Making an equipment checklist and letting others write to it helps to minimize the chance that a group member, or myself, forget to pack something. Proper preparation is essential for not only my safety, but the safety of the hiking group, and of course the enjoyment of the adventure.

I am a Hiker. I have a lot to do and found the one resource to handle so many of my needs. I use Spinscape!
